This is a linocut of the fascinating building known as Firle Tower, seen here from one of our favourite walks: the old coaching road from Alfriston to Lewes.

The tower was originally built by the 3rd Viscount Gage in 1819 as a Game-Keeper’s cottage to enable them signal to another Keeper at nearby Plashet deer-park. I’ve used colours that I hope evoke the lovely late Spring Day that we enjoyed on our walk at the foot of the Downs.
